Chahal is playing for Rajasthan Royals in the 15th season of IPL. He has taken 9 wickets in 3 matches played so far. He is the highest wicket-taker in the IPL series in 2020.

Chahal played for the Royal Challengers Bangalore team for many years. But the team released him before the IPL auction. Following this, the Rajasthan team took the cricketer in the auction. Similarly, Tamil Nadu spinner Ashwin has been included in the Rajasthan team. A video of the two talking has been released on the internet. In it, Chahal reveals the shocking news that a drunk player tried to throw himself off the 15th floor balcony during his days in Mumbai Indians in 2013.

Speaking about this, he said, "This dates back to 2013 when I was with Mumbai Indians. We had a match in Bengaluru. There was a get together after that. So there was a player who was very drunk. I won't take his name. He was very drunk, he was looking at me for a long time and he just called me and he took me outside and he hung me on the balcony."

"My hands were around him like this (shows the way of his grip). Had I lost my grip, I was on the 15th floor. Suddenly many people who were there came and handled the situation. I kind of fainted, they gave me water. Then I realized how responsible we need to be when we go anywhere," Chahal added.
