Why Cricket Fans are Waiting for the Midnight of November 15?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe eight-month ban handed over to Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw over doping violation ends on the midnight of November 15, meaning that he can henceforth be part of domestic and international cricket.
On Thursday, Shaw was included in the 15-member Mumbai squad for the remaining group games of the Syed Musthaq Ali T20 Trophy and the Elite League starting November 21 at Surat.
On July 30, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended Shaw for "inadvertently" consuming cough syrup that contained one of the prohibited substances terbutaline.
Last week, on his 20th birthday, Shaw shared a short video of him practising and spoke about his come back. "I turn 20 today. I assure it will be Prithvi Shaw 2.0 going forward. Thank u for all the good wishes & support. Will be back in action soon."
Chandrakant Pandit who was part of the MCA Academy where Shaw trained and coach of the Mumbai team when Shaw scored his maiden Ranji century said, "He has definitely got something and once he gets that opportunity, he will give his best. I would just tell him that, ‘you haven’t committed any crime and this isn’t the end of the world’. Nobody doubts your ability as a player. You have to just look forward."
Shaw had a dream start to his international career with a century on Test debut. There was a lot of buzzes when he left for his first overseas tour of Australia. But, an ankle injury intervened his show and recovery took longer than expected followed by the ban.
