During the opening match between Australia and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Virat Kohli and team didn’t make the greatest of starts to their Australia sojourn. They lost by a massive margin of 66 runs, which means that the other two matches which are left to be played in the three-match series are must-win affairs.

Among all the drawbacks, Team India's shoddy performance on the field came as the limelight.

Looking into ICC's guidelines, a team has to complete their quota of 50 overs in three hours and 30 mins (210 Minutes) but Team India took a slow 246 minutes to bowl 300 legitimate deliveries.

After India lost the match, there were many who trolled and criticized Virat Kohli and the squad for India’s poor over-rate. Even former Indian batsman Waims Jaffer also reacted to Team India's poor over rate. He uploaded a photo with a popular movie dialogue, showing that he doesn’t care about the rules. The veteran captioned the photo and wrote, “Being hosts we’ve already qualified for 2023 WC so in short.”

While replying to a user who highlighted the over rate, Jaffer came up with a hilarious reply stating that India is confirmed to be part of 2023 WC.

Amid all the trolling, many fans still believe that after nine months that India were playing a 50-over game, they probably needed more time to adjust to the rigor of this format.

Talking about the match, Indian bowlers capitulated as the hosts plundered 374 in their 50 overs. It was Aaron Finch and Steve Smith’s centuries that led the charge for Australia. Even David Warner and Glenn Maxwell were at their best with useful scores to propel their team to the humongous score at the SCG.

Looking into India's performance, Mohammed Shami picked up three wickets with the other bowlers being dismal. Also, while chasing 375, Shikhar Dhawan’s 74 and Hardik Pandya’s 90 kept the Men in Blue in the hunt. Others like Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Navdeep Saini could score only in the 20s.

The second ODI is set to be played on Sunday (November 29) in Sydney. Apart from the ODIs, India will also play three T20Is and four Test matches. Check out the tweet below:
