Virender Sehwag Comes Out in Support of MS Dhoni after CSKvsMI Clash; Reveals Why It Is 'Hurting Dhoni More'

A day after the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) mammoth loss against Mumbai Indians (MI) where Rohit Sharma-led team beat arch-rivals CSK by 10 wickets, former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has come out in support of MS Dhoni. 

During the match at the Sharjah International Cricket Stadium on Friday, Mumbai Indians bowlers left the CSK batsmen clueless as they took them down like a pack of cards. 

The two youngsters, who were included in the team for the match were Ruturaj Gaikwad and N Jagadeesan. Before the match, Dhoni was criticized for not backing the youngsters but post the game fans feel that Dhoni was indeed correct as both walked backed on ducks.

CSK could only score 114 runs in their 20 overs as Mumbai Indians’ batsmen lost no wickets in the game to win the match by 10 wickets.

Recently, while speaking to Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “This loss against Mumbai will hurt for a very long time. This hurts even more as MS Dhoni might feel that I have tried my youngsters today and they have disappointed me once again. They should have at least scored some runs for themselves and should have taken time to have a taste of the tournament.”  

“If the youngsters could have carried the team to a respectable total of 140-150 runs, MS Dhoni would have been contented with that performance. Dhoni, definitely, would be a lot more hurt as the youngsters have let him down. It will be interesting to see how they make a comeback from here,” Virender Sehwag added. 

Currently, Mumbai Indians (MI) are on the top of the IPL 2020 table with 14 points. They have topped the table having a better Net run rate than Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who are on the same level. 

Talking about CSK, they had one of the worst seasons so far in their history of the Indian Premier League. The match with MI was CSK’s 8th loss in the 11 games so far. Also, it's sad to say that CSK are almost eliminated from the IPL tournament now.
