The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could allow outdoor training soon after the Center eases lockdown restrictions. Among most of the cities, Mumbai is under strict rules as COVID-19 cases are sky high.

As tough restrictions are expected to be maintained in Mumbai for quite sometime, Team India captain Virat Kohli and batsman Rohit Sharma both hail from this specific city. So despite easing of lockdown, they might not join the other team members.

According to a Hindustan Times report, at a recent interview, to news agency AFP, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal said; “For players like Kohli and Rohit, the restrictions are there in Mumbai and might stay.”

With the easing down of lockdown, the players might return for “some skill-based training” outdoors in several parts of the country, the BCCI official claimed.

Further speaking on the plan for resume training, BCCI official stated that the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore is being prepared to carry out the post-lockdown plan for the players.

“As of now we are working, given the lockdown restrictions, through apps and online modes. The coaches and support staff are regularly in touch with the players. Everybody would be keen to hit the ground and the idea is whenever we are ready for cricket to resume, they (the players) are able to give their 100 percent," Dhumal added.

Most of the sporting events to international cricket and the Indian Premier League (IPL) have been postponed due to the coronavirus.
