Virat Kohli beats MSD and Creates New T20I Record

In the 3rd of the 5-match T20 series against New Zeland at Seddon Park, Hamilton, Virat Kohli trespassed former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's record in T20Is.
New Zeland won the toss and opted to bowl first. India finished the innings with 179 runs for the loss of 5 wickets at the end of 20 overs.
Virat Kohli remained the second top run-scorer for India with 38 runs in 27 balls preceeded by Rohit Sharma who scored 65 runs out of 40 balls.
Kohli began the innings with 1088 runs in his T20 career. He needed only 25 runs to beat Dhoni's highest number of runs as Indian captain in T20s which he did comfortably.
The record was cherished by BCCI by posting a photo with the text, "Virat Kohli- Most Runs By An Indian Captain in T20Is".
