Virat Kohli is Just 19 Runs Away From Breaking this 26-year-old Record!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAfter the first ODI of the three-match series between India and West Indies was called off due to rain, men in blue are all set to rival against formidable West Indies for the second ODI (11 August, 2019) at the Queen’s Park Oval Stadium in Port of Spain, today.
What makes today’s match more special is that Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is just 19 runs away from breaking a 26-year-old record. Kohli is currently the second highest run-scorer against West Indies in ODI’s. He has so far scored 1912 runs from 33 innings. Top to him is legendary Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad with 1930 runs from 64 innings. Miandad played his last ODI against West Indies in 1993 and since then, his record stands unbroken. Just 19 more runs, the Indian Skipper will create history yet another time.
On a related note, Kohli holds his second best average and strike rate in the 50-over format against West Indies. His innings per fifty-plus score ratio of 1.94 against West Indies is also his second-best.
The third and final ODI of the series is scheduled for 14th August again at the Queen’s Park Oval. Following the conclusion of the ODI series, the two teams will feature in two tests in Antigua and Jamaica.
