Tennis fans went into a frenzy after Serena Williams set a new Open era record for most comeback victories. Serena with her power and force came out on top after defeating Tsvetana Pironkova and reaching her 14th US Open semi-final yesterday.

The match was a historic fight between two mothers; 38-year-old Williams with Pironkova. Currently, Serena is the most come-from-behind wins in the Open Era. She is also chasing a 24th singles grand slam title that would equal Margaret Court's record.

“I'm happy to be standing here talking to you because at one point I think I was pretty close to not being here. I keep fighting and that's one thing that I'm super excited about. I never give up and you know I just gotta keep going,” Williams told an on-court interviewer.

“I was feeling a little in my legs and for whatever reason an hour in I get more energy so I guess that's a good thing. In the beginning I was a little fatigued for whatever reason so obviously I can't do that if I want to keep winning. So I'm going to try to figure that out,” she added.

Minutes after her win, Tennis fans erupted over Serena’s ‘insane’ fightback as she smashed 20 aces, taking her tally for the tournament to 64 so far. She also has a record for the most number of aces in a US Open in the women's singles is 70, set by Serena in 1999 when she won for the first time.

Highlighting about Pironkova, she returned to tennis this year after a three-year absence from the court. Check out the videos below:
