Umar Akmal Suspended by Pakistan Cricket Board
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe wicket-keeper batsman Umar Akmal was suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code. PCB revealed its decision on Thursday, 20 February.
The code states that “in circumstances where it considers that the integrity of the sport could otherwise be seriously undermined, to Provisionally Suspend the Participant pending the Anti-Corruption Tribunal’s determination of whether he/she has committed an offence.”
Akmal will not be allowed to take part in any type of cricket-related activity until the pending investigation is carried out by PCB's Anti-Corruption Unit.
In Paksitan Super League (PSL) 2020 Akmal was representing the defending champions Quetta Gladiators. Now the team would have to look for a replacement for Akmal.
It has to be mentioned that the exact reason for Akmal's suspension is not yet revealed by the PCB.
