Weeks after Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) offered to host the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020), UAE has now come forward putting a proposal to host the T20 league.

As per a report in Hindustan Times, UAE has offered to host IPL 2020 but BCCI is yet to give its confirmation on it. The Arun Dhumal, BCCI treasurer told HT "The UAE has offered to host the IPL if we want them to. But right now when there is no international travel, there is no question of taking a call on that."

Earlier, UAE had arranged 20 matches in 2014 to avoid date clashes with the general elections that took place then in India.

Talking a look at the IPL 2020 schedule, the league was first to take place on March 29 later it got postponed until April 15. After which the BCCI decided to postpone the league for an indefinite period; they did not cancel it and remains hopeful going ahead.

As the country is under lockdown and has been extending IPL 2020 still looks uncertain.

Weeks back, Sri Lanka Cricket had offered to host the IPL, but the proposal was unofficially turned down by the BCCI. As Sri Lanka’s cricket board is struggling financially, the staging fees of the IPL could have helped them.
