Did Suresh Raina Take a Dig at Virat Kohli For Not Giving Him Opportunities?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIt’s been quite some time since we saw Suresh Raina on the international stage, having last played for India against England in an away series. In an interview given to a leading daily, the star batsman seems to have taken a subtle dig at the present Indian management for giving him fewer opportunities.
Raina implied that he got to play more under MS Dhoni’s captainship, subtly saying that he’s not been playing much ever since Virat Kohli took over as skipper. Meanwhile, Raina has been retained for Chennai Super Kings for Indian Premier League 2020 for Rs 11 crore.
Saying that it’s important for any batsman to get steady opportunities, Raina put the onus on a skipper to ensure it happens. He also addressed India’s current problem of a lack of a sturdy middle-order batsman and said that be it Shreyas Iyer or Rishabh Pant, they need to be given enough opportunities and can’t be expected to perform in every other game. He also added that batsmen need to be assured that they won’t be dropped.
