On Sunday, September 20, Delhi Capitals bagged their first point in the 13th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) after they won over Kings XI Punjab in the Super Over.

During the match, Delhi Capitals managed to put a score of 157 against KXIP. They were also successful in restricting KXIP before Kagiso Rabada ensured a victory for his team in the Super Over.

The highlight of the match was when star spinner R Ashwin had to leave the field right after his first over. He hurt his left shoulder as he tried to drive Glenn Maxwell off his bowling. After that incident, Ashwin did not come out to bowl while fans started fearing for the worse.

Giving an update on his injury, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer said that the spinner will be ready for the next game. “It was important for us to get wickets, since the total was small, and I knew if I saved KG’s over for the end it would be helpful. Ashwin’s over was a key one, and it changed the game in our favour, but that’s what T20 cricket is."

"Ashwin says he’ll be ready for the next game, but in the end the physio is going to decide. Axar was fantastic with those middle overs too, stifling the runs in the middle after Ashwin was injured. We generally go by left-right combination in the team build-up. The way Stoinis assessed the wicket and played that innings was commendable,’ Iyer stated after the match.

Meanwhile, in Ashwin’s absence, Ajinkya Rahane took over the field and surprised the opposition batsmen. However, it was Stoinis who won the match for Delhi Capitals.
