Who gave Rohit Sharma his 100th T20I Cap? A Heartwarming moment that Went Unnoticed!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIndia stand-in skipper Rohit Sharma, on Thursday, played his 100th T20I game - the first male cricketer to represent India in 100 T20Is and only the second Indian after Harmanpreet Kaur to do so - at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.
Rohit smashed 85 runs off 43 balls and lead India to an 8-wicket win against Bangladesh. While doing so, Rohit broke several records and created a few. He has become the highest six-hitter in a calendar year for the third time in a row. Also, he is the first cricketer to register a hat-trick in being the highest six-hitter in a calendar year.
Amid all this what went unnoticed was the moment when Rohit Sharma received his 100th T20I cap. But, in the absence of Virat Kohli, who handed it over? It was Mumbai all-rounder Shivam Dube. Yes, you read it right! The Indian team management let a youngster, who made his debut for India just a few days back, do the honours.
Later, Rohit took to Twitter to express his gratitude. “Be it whichever format, I’m indebted to have this opportunity to do something for the country. I have cherished all these times and will do so forever."
