Former Indian Skipper, Saurav Ganguly questioned the selection committee for not picking the players consistently in all three formats (Test, ODI and T20). The Indian Cricket team is all set to play against West Indies from August 3 and as we reported earlier, the MSK Prasad led selection committee announced the squad for the tour on July 21 (Sunday).

After the speculation regarding Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s exclusion cleared the air, the selection committee announced the 15-member squad for all the three formats which included fast bowler Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar among other players. There were questions raised for not including Shubman Gill who performed exceptionally in the Ranji trophy and the ongoing unofficial series against West Indies ‘A’ team in the Carribean.

A while ago, Saurav Ganguly also commented on the ideas of the selection committee in the selection process and giving confidence to young players if they get selected in all the three formats. He says,” Time has come for indian selectors to pick same players in all formats of the game for rhythm and confidence.. too few are playing in all formats ..great teams had consistent players ..it’s not about making all happy but picking the best for the country and be consistent..@bcci” (sic)

Dada also questioned the committee for not including Shubman Gill and Rahane in the ODI squad as it was surprising for him. “There are many in the squad who can play all formats ..surprised not to see shubman gill ..Rahane in the one day squad..” (sic) Saurav tweeted. The mix & match strategy of BCCI has not impressed Saurav Ganguly who has the record of most successful Indian test captain in overseas.
