Video: Sanju Samson Reveals Reason Behind ‘Bicep’ Celebration During RRvsMI Clash 

During the match between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday, Sanju Samson came up with an interesting celebration after reaching his fifty. He played a fine knock of 54 not out off just 31 balls to help his team chase down 195 as target. 

Other than Samson, it was Ben Stokes, who became the star of the show. He played a scintillating knock of 107 to guide Royals to a much-needed win.

Both shared an unbeaten stand of 152 runs to give Royals their fifth win of the season.

Coming back to Sanju Samson’s celebration; after scoring his fifty, he pointed at his bicep while celebrating it on the field. His celebration became a big hit as fans were curious to know if it was inspired by his India captain Virat Kohli. 

During India vs South Africa in 2015, Virat Kohli made his 138-run knock in the fourth ODI of the five-match series at home, after which he had done a similar celebration during the match.

Post the game, Sanju Samson, revealed the reason behind his celebration which was totally different. He said that the celebration was just a reminder to himself about his strength. “Reminding myself what my name is, I think Samson is the strongest man in the world, I keep remembering that. I am very strong and I can hit more sixes,” he said. 

“I kept on believing in myself. When you play 14 games, you’ll have to go through ups and downs. I worked a bit on my game plan. In bigger grounds, on different wickets, you need to take more time, play more cricketing shots, that was the difference I did today. It was amazing batting with Stokes. We have spent a good time out in the middle in the last three games, this was the best time with him, really enjoyed it,” added Sanju Samson.

Further in his conversation, he said that the recent drop in form did not hurt his confidence and he kept backing himself. The Royals will next take on Kings XI Punjab at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on October 30.
