The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 has seen two big happenings; first is some of the biggest totals being scored in UAE and the other is a nightmare for bowlers at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium where batsmen have scored a heap of runs on shorter boundaries.

As the Sharjah Cricket Stadium has become a batsman’s paradise and a bowler’s graveyard, former Indian cricketer turned commentator Sanjay Manjrekar has come up with a new rule to give some relief to the bowlers.

Manjrekar took to his social media account and suggested if a ball that goes over the ropes should be given as a 4 while the ones that go outside the stadium should be considered as sixes.

“Over the ropes is 4. Outside the stadium is 6. Those are my new playing conditions for Sharjah. You guys okay with it? #Sharjah #MiniCricket,” he tweeted.

Highlighting the stadium and matches played, the first match of IPL 2020 was played between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings where Steve Smith-led team put 216 runs on board. Even CSK managed to score 200 runs, with a valiant effort by Faf du Plessis (72 off 37).

The second match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium proved to be another run-fest where KXIP put up a total of 223 runs after a ton by Mayank Agarwal (106 off 50), Rajasthan Royals chased down the total with three balls remaining. During the match, Smith and Samson once again made best use of the shorter boundaries and smashed nine sixes.
