The match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) yesterday ended on an angry and bitter note after Khaleel Ahmed and Rahul Tewatia got into a heated argument.

RR all-rounder Rahul Tewatia, was the highlight of the game after he played a match-winning knock where he smashed unbeaten 45 off just 28 balls as he chased down the set target of 159 in the last over.

Talking about the match, SRH, who opted to bat first put out a 158/4 in the set overs. Manish Pandey top-scored with 54 runs while captain David Warner hit 48 runs off 38 balls.

In response to that, Khaleel Ahmed removed Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, in quick succession. Even Seve Smith once again failed to impress his fans while Samson and Uthappa tried their best to rebuild the innings.

But when Tewatia and Riyan Parag came, they added 85 runs for the sixth wicket and snatched victory in the last over. To our surprise, Tewatia was also named the ‘Player of the Match’ for his efforts.

During the final over, fast bowler Khaleel got involved in a heated altercation with Tewatia. They were seen into a verbal fight at each other after the fourth delivery of the over. On-field umpires and the SRH skipper David Warner had to intervene to bring the matter under control.

“The wickets were falling so I just wanted to hold one end up and wait for the boundary balls. I knew if I keep my self-belief and take it deep, I could pull it off. I told Riyan (Parag) that the wicket was playing slow and the deeper we take it, the better our chances, even if we needed 50 off the last 4 because we have the shots,” Tewatia said at the post-match presentation.

“Riyan asked me what to do. I told him to respect the good balls and take singles, and I could take on the attack. Against Rashid, I saw the opportunity to play the reverse sweep and took it. This was the role given to me and it was clear from a long time. I was batting well for a while and I was confident and was hitting them well when we played practice games. So it’s easy when you know your role," Tewatia added.

When asked about an incident involving SRH bowler Khaleel Ahmed, he said, “No big deal, we just got taken away in the heat of the moment," as per Indian Express.
