PV Sindhu Creates History; First Indian to Win Gold Medal in World Badminton Championships!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIn a match that lasted only 38 minutes, PV Sindhu beat Japan's Okuhara by 21-7, 21-7 and won gold. She became the first Indian to win worlds gold.
Sindhu lost the last two finals she played and won two silver medals. Earlier she won bronze medals. Now the olympic star won a gold and said she is "proud to be an Indian" in the post-match interview. She was seen with tears in her eyes as the national anthem played.
"A big thanks to my coach Miss Kim and Gopi sir and the entire support staff. I also want to dedicate this to my parents an despecially my mom, it's her birthday today. So, happy birthday mom," she said.
She created history defeating Okuhara who defeated her in 2017 finals. The match lasted for about two hours which was hailed as one of the best women's clash ever.
