Young Cricketer suspended by BCCI over doping violation!

Indian Batsman Prithvi Shaw has been suspended by the BCCI for eight months over a doping violation on Tuesday (July 30).

Shaw, who has played two Tests for India, is banned till November 15 of this year. In his debut Test match he scored a ton against West Indies in Rajkot.

According to the statement issued by BCCI, the 19-year-old Shaw had inadvertently ingested a prohibited substance, which can be commomly found in cough syrups. On 22nd February 2019, during Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match,  Shaw had provided his urine sample as part of BCCI’s anti-doping testing program. His sample was subsequently found to contain Terbutaline, which comes under the WADA Prohibited list of Substances.

Shaw admitted to the violation of anti-doping rule, but said that the action was inadvertent claiming that the prohibited substance must have been present in the counter cough syrup he took for his cough.
