Who will India Pick? Here are the probable list and their performances!!!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThe IPL is reaching the midway stage and the competition is getting closer. The top 6 teams are really close to each other and hence every game is going to be interesting.
But there is an all-important world cup coming up and it has been announced that India will be announcing their squads on the 15th of April.
Let's have a look at how some of the probable have performed so far in this years IPL.
Third Opener:
KL Rahul, has had a good tournament so far scoring 3 half centuries. He is almost certain to get picked in the world cup squad as a third opener. So far in this tournament, he has already won 2 matches for the Kings XI Punjab scoring 217 runs in 6 matches.
Number 4 spot:
Vijay Shankar, who is looked at as a number 4 option, had a good start to the tournament but has tapered off in the last few games. He has had a few opportunities to finish off innings but hasn't capitalized which is a worrying sign. He has scored 131 runs in 6 matches so far and hasn't bowled much.
Back Up Wicket Keeper:
Rishabh Pant, had a great start to the tournament scoring 78 off just 27 balls against the Mumbai Indians. Since then he has played cameos, but his mode of dismissal has been a concern as he has thrown away his wicket a number of times. He still has managed to score 176 runs in 6 matches at a great strike rate of 172.54
Second Allrounder:
Ravindra Jadeja, has gone as expected with his bowling, as he hasn't given much away with his economy and has picked up crucial wickets. He has 4 wickets in the 5 games at an economy rate of 5.93. His batting has been underwhelming in this tournament in the opportunities that he has had which is a lsight concern considering he might be required to provide the balance with the bat as well if Pandya gets injured.
Fourth Seamer
As far as the fourth seamer is concerned, no one has really put their hands up. They would consider Yadav, Khaleel or Kaul who have been options they have tried out in the past. However, they might as well go with Navdeep Saini who has impressed in this IPL as he could be an x-factor considering his pace. Deepak Chahar can another out of the box option considering the conditions in England and his ability to swing the ball as he has shown with CSK. Saini has picked up 4 wickets in 5 games at an economy rate of 7.85 and Deepak Chahar has got 5 wickets in 5 games at an economy rate of 6.15.
