T20 World Cup: Will Pakistan Not Play in India if India Doesn’t Visit Pakistan?
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDue to safety issues, for a long time now, Pakistan hasn’t been that active in hosting international matches. However, then and now, a country agrees to visit Pakistan for a series and the recent was Bangladesh. Even then, a few players and support staff decided to skip the series, citing security reasons.
Amidst rumours of Pakistan not in the running for hosting Asia Cup (2020) anymore, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief executive Wasim Khan has dismissed rumours of the same and said that they are very much into hosting the coveted cup. As of now, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hasn’t said anything about Indian players coming to Pakistan in case the Asia Cup is to be held there. Now, Khan has reacted to the same and said that, if it was indeed the case, then Pakistan would skip the T20 World Cup to be hosted by India in 2021.
"It is not the prerogative of the PCB or the ICC to change the host as it was the decision of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)," Wasim was quoted as saying by The Dawn, a premier Pakistan-based newspaper.
"We are currently considering two venues to host the Asia Cup. If India doesn't come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, we would also refuse participation in the 2021 T20 World Cup there," he further said.
