"Dhoni is there to play only cricket!" Pakistan minister slams MS Dhoni
Home > News Shots > Sports newsMS Dhoni was seen wearing gloves with regimental dagger insignia to show his love and support for the army in the match against South Africa on Wednesday.
The social media lauded him for his genture but ICC asked BCCI to remove the sign from his gloves as Dhoni's action stood in contrary to ICC's rules which clearly states - "equipment and clothing regulations do not permit the display of messages that relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes during an international match."
Only a day after that, Pakistan minister Fawad Chaudhry slammed Captain Cool for his action. Pakistan's Federal Minister for Science and Technology took it to Twitter to show his disagreement with the Indian skipper's gesture.
"Dhoni is in England to play cricket not to for MahaBharta , what an idiotic debate in Indian Media, a section of Indian media is so obsessed with War they should be sent to Syria, Afghanistan Or Rawanda as mercenaries," Fawad tweeted.
The sign "Balidaan" is a distinct insignia of the special forces, which form part of the Parachute Regiment. It contains a commando dagger pointed downwards, with upward-extending wings from the blade with a scroll superimposed on the blade with "Balidaan" inscribed in Devanagari. Only Paramilitary Commandos are allowed to wear the Balidaan Badge, reports Times Now.
Dhoni had been conferred an honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Parachute Regiment back in 2011, and had undergone training under the Para Brigade in 2015.
