No More IPL Opening Ceremony - BCCI Says It's 'Waste Of Money': Reports
Home > News Shots > Sports newsThis IPL edition is seeing a lot of changes and now reports say that BCCI is planning to scrape off the opening ceremony.
It was a tradition for IPL to have an opening ceremony during the inaguration of every edition where stars perform. However, this year, the opening ceremony was cancelled to honour those who lost their lives in Pulwama attack.
Reports suggest that BCCI is planning to do away with the opening ceremony as they seem to consider it 'waste of money.'
A BCCI official, speaking to TNIE, said that the fans are not interested in the opening ceremony and the board has to spend a lot for the stars to perform. “The opening ceremonies are a waste of money. The cricket fans don’t seem to be interested, and the performers have to be paid a lot.”
