Team India is currently touring at West Indies to play 3 T20s, 3 ODIs and 2 Tests. The first T20 will begin on August 3 at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. Since Dhoni has taken a sabbatical to train with the Indian Army,  the MSK Prasad committee named Rishabh Pant to be the wicket-keeper for all the three formats.

Reportedly, the decision to include Rishabh Pant has been taken concerning the future of Indian team ahead of World Tournaments. Earlier, former Indian captain, Saurav Ganguly expressed his disappointment for selecting three different teams for ODIs, T20s and Test matches. However, reports suggested the selection committee members headed by MSK prasad intend to experiment with varied options.

Recently, MSK Prasad revealed yet another experiment to shape the future of Rishabh Pant. According to the Hindustan Times report, MSK Prasad has clear plans to prepare the prospects of the 21-year-old Wicket keeper. He also talked about how MSD adds value to team India.

“I can clearly say this that till today MS is the best glovemen and finisher in India in the shorter formats. The others are still work in progress. MS was a big strength to this team in the World Cup both as a batsman and keeper, apart from sharing his vast experience with the team and captain while taking on-field decisions,” Prasad was quoted as saying by HT.

When asked about if Dhoni will be included back into the team for South Africa and Bangladesh home series, he said, “I have very clearly told post the selection of the Indian team against West Indies, that we have a plan post World Cup to give as many opportunities as possible to Rishabh and groom him so that he can grow in confidence and perform as per the requirements of the team,”
