In an exclusive interview to PTI, Chairman of the BCCI’s Selection Committee MSK Prasad described Sunil Gavaskar’s ‘Lame Duck’ comment on him as “unfortunate.”

Prasad has further said that such types of comments only makes the Selection Committee stronger, committed and united rather than weakening.

He has questioned the morality behind demanding stature and international experience to be a Selection Committee member when the job actually demands a different expertise.

“If one is talking about stature and international experience, Ed Smith, who is the current chairman for England and Wales Cricket Board has player only one Test. Trevor Hohns, who is the chairman of Cricket Australia’s Selection Committee has played only seven Tests. Maybe a diamond called Sachin Tendulkar would not have been unearthed at only 16 years”, Prasad has opined.

Speaking on the Committee’s relationship with Virat Kohli and Head Coach Ravi Sashtri, Prasad said that they would have difference of opinions occasionally but would never make it a matter of public discussion. “What happens within the four walls has to remain there.”, he was quoted as saying.
