MS Dhoni likely to make himself available for selection, say reports!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsFormer India captain MS Dhoni has been out of action since India's exit in the World Cup. He refused to talk about his future and said questions on his return to cricket should only be asked after January 2020.
As the news of Dhoni being excluded from the BCCI's annual player contracts list made headlines yesterday, fans began to trend #ThankyouDhoni on social media. However, in fact, Dhoni not getting an annual contract does not mean that he cannot play for India anymore. According to a BCCI source, if Dhoni gets a spot in the Asia Cup squad and plays a certain number of matches, his name will be automatically included.
“It is up to the selectors and it is up to individual performances. What if he single-handedly takes CSK to victory in IPL? Won’t that matter? People should stop jumping the gun. His absence from the annual retainership doesn’t mean a thing,” the source was quoted as saying by CricTracker.
According to a report by TOI, Dhoni will not retire from international cricket at least till the end of the IPL and is expected to make himself available for national selection in the build-up to the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia.
Significantly, Dhoni was also seen practicing at the Jharkhand's training session yesterday ahead of Ranji Trophy.
