England scored 396 with 6 wicket loss in 50 overs. Johny Bairstow and Joe Root scored 90 and 88, respectively. Eoin Morgan, captain of the team, scored 148 in 71 balls smashing 4 fours and 17 sixers.
He was soon to reach 4th fastest hundred in 57 balls in World Cup history. He also broke another record blasting 17 sixers. The highest was 16 sixers shared by Rohit Sharma, AB de Villiers and Gayle.
While the terrific batting forced the Afghanistan bowlers to give more runs, Rashid Khan gave 110 runs in 9 overs, a recorded high in World Cup history. Last year, Rashid Khan had become the youngest No.1 in the ICC's rankings for ODI bowlers.
