Mid-Season Transfer: Top Players Who May Shift Base in IPL 2020; Franchises To Take Decision!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAs IPL 2020 has reached its halfway mark in the league stage, the mid-season transfer window has opened today, top franchise teams are now allowed to scout for replacement and back-up players.
The window has opened up after all the teams have completed their seven rounds of matches in the IPL 13th season so far.
Before the mid-season transfer window could open, there have been intense speculations on which players will be moved to other teams for better opportunities.
Below is the list of players who have featured high on the window:
- Ajinkya Rahane (Delhi Capitals): Despite his name on the list, Delhi Capitals have decided not to release Rahane, who joined them from Rajasthan Royals (RR) for IPL 2020.
"He is a valuable member of the side and with there is an injury cloud over Rishabh Pant, it might not be advisable to release him as he can bring a lot of stability to the middle-order in any situation," said a source.
- Chris Gayle (Kings XI Punjab): So far in IPL 2020 Gayle has not participated in any match which became another reason for his name to come on the list. After having the opening slot sealed by KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal for Kings XI Punjab; the team could not accommodate Gayle in the middle-order because of his method of play.
As per recent updates, Gayle has recovered from the stomach upset and is expected to play his first match against RCB, possibly in the place of Maxwell. Even the low performance of Glenn Maxwell has contributed to the call.
- Nathan Coulter-Nile (Mumbai Indians): There were speculations that Mumbai Indians (MI) might get rid of Coulter-Nile, who has not yet appeared in IPL 2020. But James Pattinson, who came in his place, has impressed fans and experts with some good efforts.
Amid talks, Mumbai Indians believe that Coulter Nile will perform his best and can still add value to the team as a back-up to Pattinson.
- Imran Tahir (Chennai Super Kings): With CSK performing low in the ongoing IPL 2020, the absence of Imran Tahir too has fuelled talks that the Yellow Army is going to transfer him. Currently, the slots for international players have been occupied by Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Sam Curran and Dwayne Bravo.
With pitches in the UAE and their sluggish effort, CSK is also rethinking on their strategies as they feel that Tahir could offer immense value to the struggling side in the second phase. Tahir, who had a very good CPL 2020, is yet to make his appearance in IPL 2020.
- Lockie Ferguson (Kolkata Knight Riders): The New Zealand pacer was signed by KKR but is yet to play a match in IPL 2020 so far. He is known for troubling the best batsmen with his pace and bounce. As KXIP have failed to make an impact this season, they would be seriously mulling over the idea of bringing Ferguson to their team.
Taking a note here, the transfer of capped players will follow after the trade of uncapped players in this season's mid-season transfer window.
