After scoring 28 runs off 52 balls during the crucial time of the match against Afghanistan on Saturday, Dhoni was heavily criticized by fans and critics. However, India won the match by 11 runs despite setting the target as 225 runs.

Recently, Sachin had also criticized Dhoni and called it "lack of intent," and fans are blasting Sachin for his comment.

However, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly feels that Dhoni is too good a batsman to be bogged down and will make a strong comeback. “At the end of the day, MSD is a very good batsman and he will definitely prove that in this year’s World Cup 2019 as well despite his sticky form against Afghanistan. It’s just one match,” reports DNA.

Also, 62-year-old Sandeep Patil, former Indian cricketer, wrote in his exclusive column for The Quint that "Similarly, a player should also peak at the right time and mark my words, the sleeping giant – the team’s former ‘Captain Cool’ – is about to awaken and when he does, it will surely help the Indian team in the later stages of the tournament."

“Whenever India have found themselves under pressure, cramped and choked, the captain, vice-captain and the bowlers have all walked up to Dhoni for advice and, most of the time, it has worked wonders for the team,” Patil further wrote in his exclusive column.
