KL Rahul Emulates Rahul Dravid's 21-year-old Record as Wicket-Keeper!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIf there's one big takeaway for India from the recent past, that's KL Rahul's consistency. When Virat Kohli first shouldered the wicket-keeping responsibility on KL Rahul in addition to batting, fans and critics drew comparisons with Sourav Ganguly's gamble with Rahul Dravid ahead of the 2003 ODI World Cup.
After hitting a ton in the 3rd ODI against New Zealand at the Bay Oval, Rahul has provided a new fact to validate the comparison. Rahul became the first Indian wicket-keeper to hit a century outside Asia since Rahul Dravid's 135 runs against Sri Lanka at Taunton during the 1999 World Cup.
Rahul scored 112 runs from 113 balls that included nine fours and two sixes. Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey added 62 and 42 runs respectively to the total. The trio's efforts, however, went in vain as New Zealand whitewashed India to clinch the ODI series 3-0.
