Home > News Shots > Sports newsKerala's wicket-keeper batsman, Sanju Samson who shot to fame with IPL and also played for National Cricket team has proven his mettle with the bat by hitting a massive double century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match on October 12 (Saturday).
Smashing 20 boundaries and 10 sixes, Samson doubled his debut first-class century to 212 runs out of just 129 deliveries against Goa in Alur. Yet another feather to Samson's maiden double century added out of beating the record of Pakistan's Abid Ali in the List A cricket.
Abid Ali scored an unbeaten 209 runs being a wicket-keeper batsman which was beaten by Sanju with his brilliant 212. Sanju's score also happens to be the 3rd highest List A score in India and fourth by an Indian player.
Sanju Samson has shown a promising career graph in the Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. He has scored 379 runs out of the 6 Vijay Hazare matches played so far. Earlier, former Indian cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar expressed his wish of picking Sanju Samson over Pant saying "Sanu is a good wicket-keeper as well as a good batsman".
Sanju Samson is clearly trending on top in the records of Vijay Hazare Trophy by scoring the new highest score by an individual, thus beating Uttarkhand's KV Kaushal who scored 202 against Sikkim last year.
