Dangerous Players to Attack India in the WI Series

India tour of West Indies has grabbed important attention after the World Cup loss of Men in blue. The series will also be a key factor for West Indies as they suffered a limping exit in the World Tournament. While India’s squad was announced on July 21, the Carribean players were revealed on July 23.

West Indies management has brought back the vital players whom they missed out in the World Cup. For the first two matches of T-20 series against India, the pillars of West Indian cricket team, Keiron Pollard and Sunil Narine have been included. Sunil Narine played for West Indies two years back against England while Pollard played for them last November on India’s Tour.

The interim Chairman of West Indies Cricket Board’s (CWI) selection panel, Robert Haynes had reportedly told that they were looking to provide opportunity to players like Pollard and Sunil Narine who played well in T20 tournaments World Wide. India Today’s report further added that they were waiting for these players to be fit and mentally ready to play.

Yet another strong addition to the West Indies team is Andre Russel who was dropped in the middle of the World Cup tournament due to injury. Robert Haynes looks very confident about the WI squad and he had reportedly described the 14 member squad as the “excellent balance of experience and Youth”. The veteran WI opener Chirs Gayle was not included in the team as he will be playing for Canada’s Global T20 league.

Here is the 14-member squad of WI: John Campbell, Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicolas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Carlos Brathwaite (c), Keemo Paul, Sunil Narine, Sheldon Cottrell, Oshane Thomas, Anthony Bramble, Andre Russell, Khary Pierre.
