"What I'm Going to do," Anil Kumble's Master Plan to make KXIP Win IPL 2020 Trophy!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsAfter getting appointed as Kings XI Punjab's Director of Cricket Operations, Anil Kumble has spoken about his plan to win maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy for KXIP. Before stepping into KXIP, Kumble held mentorship roles at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians.
"With RCB we did not win the title but we came close a couple of times. With Mumbai, we had wonderful success those three years I was there. It is nice to have the experience of crossing the line. It certainly helps (you as a coach)," Kumble was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Speaking about his agenda for KXIP, Kumble told the more the players relax, they can perform better. Putting pressure on results, wins and trophies will apparently put pressure on the players as well and that will reduce the performance.
"You learn from the previous experiences you have had as a player, as a coach but IPL is a rollercoaster ride. You need to be patient and then back the players you have. "In 12 years the only time they have got close is in 2104 when they lost in the finals. So to win a maiden trophy is the ultimate goal," " the 48-year-old told PTI.
When asked if the franchise will retain Ravichandran Ashwin in the December auction, Kumble said no decision has been made so far.
