As the 13th season of the much awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to begin from September 19, franchise players have begun their preparations for it.
Keeping in mind the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in India, this year IPL 2020 will take place in the UAE but under plenty of restrictions. Among all the hype and wait, the participation of South African players remains under doubt.

As per Times Now report, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Quinton de Kock and rest of South African cricketers, could be forced to miss the start of IPL 2020 due to the COVID-19 spread in the country.

Due to the outbreak, South Africa has been under lockdown for a while, officials are expected to remove the restrictions after September, which will have an impact on SA's players' participation in the league, Says Times Now.

Currently, the whole of South Africa has been put under lockdown by the government in response to the health crisis; even plenty of services remain suspended like International travel stays prohibited until the end of September.

Below are SA players with IPL contracts – AB de Villiers (RCB), Quinton de Kock (MI), Dale Steyn (RCB), Chris Morris (RCB), Kagiso Rabada (DC), Lungi Ngidi (CSK), Faf Du Plessis (CSK), Imran Tahir (CSK), David Miller (RR) and Hardus Viljoen (KXIP).
