The first test between India and England has commenced to a great start today in Birmingham. England won the toss and chose to bat first. Reportedly, Cheteshwar Pujara and Kuldeep Yadav could not take part, and instead, Lokesh Rahul and Ravichandran Ashwin were brought in.
It seems that bringing in Ashwin early in the innings of a Test Match was indeed a good move by Indian Captain Virat Kohli. Within the first nine overs, England's danger batsman Alastair Cook was bowled out by Ashwin in his 5th ball in the second over of the innings by producing a perfect ripper to bowl the off stump and cook looked completely beaten. England were 28/1 by the end of the ninth over.
Cook who has always troubled Indian bowlers with a very good average in test matches was sent packing by the Indian spinner. The move came as a surprise after fast bowler, Umesh Yadav was hit for more runs. Ashwin in his first six overs spell had only given just thirteen runs, taking the vital wicket.
