India witnessed a massive victory against the West Indies on Saturday by a margin of 272 runs and one inning. India reportedly broke its previous record of victory margin against Afghanistan set earlier this year.

Skipper Virat Kohli won the toss on October 4 opting to bat first. The team declared a whopping 649-9 by the end of their innings. Kohli scored a 138 and debutant Prithvi Shaw and Ravindra Jadeja too scored centuries. While bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin took four wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav took his maiden five-wicket haul and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar became the second Indian cricketer to take five wickets in all three formats of the game. India will face West Indies in the second Test on Friday at Hyderabad.
