As IPL trading is on heat, former India opener Gautam Gambhir has named three players MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings can release before the coming edition of IPL.

Speaking at the post-lunch session on Day 2 of the India vs Bangladesh first Test match at Indore, Gambhir said CSK should let go of leg-spinner Karn Sharma, medium-pacer Mohit Sharma and overseas batsman Sam Billings to make their side better. “With Imran Tahir already in their squad, Karn Sharma will hardly get to play."

He also praised CSK for proving their strengths despite being mocked for framing a squad with most of the players over 30 years of age. “I always believe, in IPL it’s not about youngsters only, it’s about a particular season. That’s what CSK has done so well. They have been referred to as an aged side they but concentrated on the present season."

With Kolkata gearing up to host the auction on December 19, CSK is expected to rope in some high-profile, potential and experienced players. Meanwhile, the franchise has also hinted on releasing 5 players.
