Kohli is Successful Captain Only Because of 'Two Players,' says Gambhir!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIt is a known fact that Virat Kohli has been performing exceptionally good with his bat and as a captain for Team India as well. However, Virat's captaincy is something that gets into questioning quite often.
While his poor captaincy record for RCB is one reason, the recent world cup loss added an extra backup for negative criticisms. Though India had a successful West Indies tour, former Indian opener Gautham Gambhir credited Ms Dhoni and Rohit Sharma for Kohli's successful captaincy record and he said Virat could not have achieved even if any one of them was not there.
"I have been honest whenever I have spoken about this. See what Rohit Sharma has achieved for Mumbai Indians, see what Dhoni has achieved for Chennai Super Kings. If you compare that with RCB, the results are there for everyone to see," Gambhir was quoted as saying by NDTV Sports.
He also supported Rohit Sharma to open the batting in Test cricket. Gambhir expressed his views on Rohit Sharma's batting ability and that a player like him should be preferred over KL Rahul. In fact, Gambhir advised the team management to not pick Rohit in the 15 or 16 member squad if he would not be given an opportunity to play.
