Former Pakistan Cricket Player Tests Positive for COVID-19
Home > News Shots > Sports newsFormer Pakistan cricketer Taufeeq Umar has been diagnosed with COVID-19, the Times of India reported.
It appears to be a mild strain of the virus, Umar is self-isolating at home, ESPN Cricinfo reported. At the time of testing he was not showing symptoms other than a headache.
"I got myself tested last night after feeling a little sick, and the result came positive. My symptoms are not at all severe. I have isolated myself at home. I appeal to everyone to pray for my swift recovery," Umar told Geo News.
The 38-year-old former opener, who made his international debut for Pakistan in 2001, played 44 Tests and 22 ODIs. Taufeeq scored 2963 runs in Test cricket at an average of 37.98 while he managed just 504 runs in ODI cricket.
