Fire Breaks Out Near Pavilion During Cricket Match, Stops Game
Home > News Shots > Sports newsIn a bizarre case, a fire incident broke out during a match of the Sheffield Shield Tournament that was being played in Australia.
Following that the match had to halt, which was being held between Western Australia and Tasmania.It was the first day of the Sheffield Shield match that ended up being interrupted due to fire behind the players’ pavilion.
According to a report in Cricket.com.au, the on-field umpire spotted the fire and signalled about the incident.
Minutes later, the umpire advised the players to move away. After which the members on the field walked out with five minutes still left in the first session.
On an immediate call, the fire officials took control and the second session’s play resumed on time, Cricket.com further reported.
Meanwhile, Western Australia Cricket Association in an official statement said that "Fire services are on site and have assessed the situation. Players have been allowed back into the Pavilion for lunch. Play resumed at 1.10pm local time after the lunch break".
