Ever since the match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) took place on October 13, the wide controversy involving MS Dhoni and umpire Paul Reifell has made headlines.

The incident happened between Dhoni and umpire Paul Reiffel during the final stages of Match 29 in which CSK won by 20 runs as they successfully defended 167 against SRH.

Talking about that epic moment, Rashid Khan‘s superb hitting in the 18th over of Karn Sharma's ball brought things close in the chase.

When Shardul Thakur was handed the crucial 19th over to bowl, he delivered it wide of the batsman which was close to or rather beyond the tramline. Rashid Khan, who shuffled in his crease and eventually missed it.

Soon after that umpire Paul Reiffel was about to signal a wide, but was unnerved by Dhoni's reaction and lowered his hands to revoke his original decision. This sudden reaction broke the internet.

However, much to everyone’s surprise, Paul withdrew his decision and decided not to call it a wide.

This caused a lot of controversy after the game as cricketers and fans, were all left shocked as to what transpired on the pitch during the game.

SRH skipper David Warner, who was sitting in the dugout was not pleased and did not want to react much over the incident on the day. But, ahead of SRHvsKKR against Warner opened up on the matter.

According to India Today reports, David Warner felt that the umpire changed the decision after looking at the opposition captain’s body language which should not have happened.

“That day with MS (Dhoni), I know he would have been frustrated had it been called a wide. But the simple fact is it was a wide and the umpire was going to call a wide. And he changed his mind by looking at the opposition captain’s body language. I am not saying this because it was MS Dhoni but because the captain was in the sight of the umpire right behind him," Warner said while speaking to India Today.

“He is behind there as wicketkeeper, so he can see that, he has shown his frustration. We all do that, at times, as captains, we all show our frustrations but at the end of the day, they can make their calls, how they make it. We just gotta respect that. So there is no point of arguing,” Warner added.
