CSK's Chepauk Likely to go Through Major Changes for Next IPL Season!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsMA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai Super Kings's (CSK) home venue, may likely have its I, J and K stands reopened before the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) is making efforts to ensure that this happens before the December 15 India versus West Indies ODI.
Except for one time when Pakistan came visiting Indian shores in 2012, the three stands with a capacity of around 12,000 spectators, have been remaining closed following discrepancies when the stadium was reconstructed before the 2011 World Cup.
"The lease arrears have been cleared. The documentation process should be completed by the next couple of days. After that, we wait for the MCC," TNCA Secretary RS Ramaswamy said.
"The ball is in the MCC's court. We are not looking at any deadline or anything. We are expecting to hear good news from the MCC anytime now. The target is the IPL (Indian Premier League). Should be done by January end or so. On our side, we are ready," he added.
Commenting on an article related to the news on Twitter, a Chennai Super Kings fan asked, "Any words of wisdom? @ChennaiIPL," to which the franchise replied "Let's wait and seat."
