Will Players Be Axed From CSK Squad? Management to Take 'Tough Decision' Ahead of IPL 2021

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been an unlucky one for the three-time champion Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as they have just won three matches in ten games so far.

Despite doing amazingly well in 2018 and 2019 editions, CSK has flopped miserably in this season.

Looking into most of the matches played in 2020 nothing has gone right for the Daddy's Army as most of the players have failed to perform well while some are struggling with their poor forms.

After continuous failure, head coach Stephen Fleming has admitted that CSK has 'run out of juice' this season.

Recently, a report went viral claiming that the top bosses and management are ‘extremely disappointed and unhappy with the results’. Which is why they would be looking to make some 'tough calls'.

As there remains a mathematical chance of qualifying for the playoffs, meanwhile another defeat of CSK will put the entire equation out of context.

Despite having players like Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu the team hasn't quite managed to finish off the game even when good starts have been there.

According to a report by InsideSport, Kedar Jadhav is on the list of veteran CSK players who is likely to be shown the door, especially if the auctions are taking place.

“See as Fleming has said, a lot of chinks in the armour have been exposed this time. Some tough calls surely will be taken. The only issue is there is little time between now and the next edition”, a source was quoted saying in the report.

Keeping a note on the team's performance, the CSK management is reportedly looking to get more young players in the team. They would also make the transition by axing a number of experienced players.

Meanwhile, the likes of Shane Watson, Piyush Chawla, Kedar Jadhav, Imran Tahir could also be shown the door while Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh are already out of their 3-year contracts, InsideSport further reported.

Looking into MS Dhoni's career, after quitting his international career and form with the bat this season, he hasn't yet indicated whether he wants to continue playing the IPL for a few more years. It would be difficult for fans to imagine the franchise without Dhoni.
