IPL Governing Council chairman Brijesh Patel on Tuesday said the novel coronavirus outbreak does not possess any threat to the upcoming edition of the tournament but the authorities are keeping a tab on the situation.

“There is no threat as of now and we are keeping a tab (on the situation)," he said.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly too ruled out any threat to the IPL or South Africa series starting March 12.

“Nothing in India. Not even discussed it (Coronovirus)’“ said Ganguly.

Over 3, 100 people have already lost their lives due to the deadly disease while over 90,000 have been found infected. Various sporting events across the globe including the upcoming Tokyo Olympics are under doubt.
