The West Indies all-rounder, Carlos Brathwaite recounted how he was treated like Chris Gayle in India, after helping his team to win the 2016 ICC Twenty20 World Cup. In a thrilling match between West Indies and England, he helped his team to beat England in the finals, by scoring four consecutive sixes in the last over. He became the star of the show at Eden Gardens that day and left the cricketing world stunned with his performance.

During a chat with a Delhi based pet channel on Instagram on Sunday, he said, "Cricket is religion in India. I remember I was filming Chris (Gayle) being mobbed at the airport. But after the World Cup when I came to play for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), the same thing was happening to me.”

Since he was in conversation with a pet- centric channel, he also spoke about his love for dogs. “Chris Jordan and Jofra (Archer) have been asking me to see my dog. Kemar Roach has some dogs. Shreyas Iyer is also with his dogs. So, there are few cricketers with dogs and we do chat about them,” he added.

Brathwaite was also hopeful about getting selected for the Indian Premiere League (IPL) in future since he was not picked by any franchise during the previous IPL auctions. “Hopefully I will be in IPL in some capacity maybe replacement player or in commentary,” he said.
