Before Shakib Al Hasan, Bookie's Threat Led Young Indian Cricketer To Commit Suicide
Home > News Shots > Sports newsEver since Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan made headlines, another name identified as Deepak Aggarwal is doing the rounds recently.
He is none other than Bookie Deepak Aggarwal, who has always been in the bad books of International Cricket Council (ICC). It was he (Deepak) who put Hasan into trouble after the cricketer was slapped with the ban for failing to report the approaches from the bookie.
Deepak has been under the ICC scanner for a long time; as he was known for his spot-fixing attempts in cricket leagues and matches.
According to Crictracker report, Deepak had first contacted Shakib in November 2017. Since then, they have kept in touch and sought information about the teams. The Indian police had also detained him back in April 2017, where had to serve jail time.
Despite that, he did not stop his malpractices. Even after getting out of the jail, Deepak's match-fixing malpractices did not stop. When all this was in full swing, Deepak's threats and actions led to the death of a 29-year old cricketer from India, Crictracker further reported.
The deceased player has been identified as Vijay Kumar who committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Udaipur. The case got more serious after the player left a suicide note, that stated of receiving threats from the bookie.
During investigations the police found that, the deceased cricket player left a suicide note claiming that he had borrowed 5 lakh rupees. He had also gone under depression after taking the amount.
While speaking to media then, Tejraj Singh, additional SP of Udaipur City in a statement said that “He left a suicide note in which he claimed that he had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from a bookie and went into depression after that. He had accused one bookie identified as Deepak Agrawal of coercing him into placing bets. In the note, he requested authorities to get the money back to his family from Deepak".
Coming back to Shakib Al Hasan, he too is paying the price for joining hands with Bookie Deepak and not approaching the authorities. Hasan, will only come into action on the field by October next year.
