BCCI Unlikely to Roll Back Slashed Prize Money: IPL Chairman Brijesh Patil!
Home > News Shots > Sports newsDays after franchises wrote a letter to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seeking reconsideration of the decision to reduce 'playoff standing fund' by half, Indian Premier League chairperson Brijesh Patil on Tuesday said, “The franchises’ views will be put up before the IPL Governing Council that will meet soon. Then we will decide. But it’s unlikely that we can have any change.”
In the letter to BCCI, the franchises call the fund “a strong incentive for teams to continually improve the performance. We collectively believe rewinding that will be a step backward in the progress of the IPL.”
The BCCI, however, argued that the franchises are now self-sufficient and the reduction in prize money would only mean a loss in profits for them.
