On August 12 (Monday), BCCI announced the final six candidates for the most anticipated post of the Indian Cricket team’s head coach. Earlier BCCI announced the openings for various coaching positions such as batting fielding and bowling including head coach and other support staff.

BCCI might have had a tough time of reviewing over 2000 profiles applied for the positions. Now, the Kapil Dev led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has shortlisted the final six candidates who will be interviewed shortly in a week. Interestingly the present coach Ravi Shastri has also been included in the list among other options.

Along with Ravi Shastri, former Srilanka Coach and Australia all-rounder, Tom Moody, former New Zealand coach Milke Hesson, former Afghanistan coach and West Indies all-rounder Phil Simmons, former India fielding coach Robin Singh and former India team manager Lalchand Rajput have also been included.

As per TOI, Shastri’s rapport with Indian Skipper Virat Kohli is likely to have a greater impact in the selection process. Reportedly the three key CAC members, Kapil, Anshuman Gaekwad and Shantha Rangaswamy would be considering the inputs of Virat Kohli before arriving at the final decision. Since Team India is touring the West Indies, Ravi Shastri will be interviewed via skype.
