The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had earlier ruled that wives and girlfriends of cricketers and supporting staff can only accompany the team for two weeks. However, earlier this month, skipper Virat Kohli had requested the BCCI to relax the rules.

Following Kohli's request, the BCCI on Wednesday ruled that wives and girlfriends can be allowed to join the tour after the first 10 days. They can reportedly stay for the length of the tour.

The discussion was held last week in Hyderabad where Virat Kohli met with head coach Ravi Shastri and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. They came to a conclusion that the presence of wives and girlfriends provide a support system for the players.
