A news that shocked cricket fans today was when, senior Indian speedster Mohammed Shami's US visa got rejected due to his existing police record on charges of domestic violence and sexual harassment.

But nothing to worry, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) came as rescue and saved the embarrassment of having an India player denied visa to travel with the team India to US due to unfavourable police records.

As, Shami has been charge-sheeted by Kolkata police based on an FIR filed by his wife Hasin Jahan, last year under Section 498A (dowry harassment) and 354A (sexual harassment).

According to India Today reports, Shami's visa application was initially rejected by the US embassy in Mumbai after his police verification records were found incomplete.

It was only after BCCI submitted his list of achievements for India and complete police report of his case of marital discord with wife; it helped in the approval of Shami's visa. BCCI CEO Rahul Johri had to write a letter, citing the pacer's achievements for the approval, India Today further reported.

July 29, is an important day for Team India as they will fly from Mumbai for US where they will be playing two T20's.

Reports suggest that, Shami has not been selected for the T20's series. But he still needs to apply for US visas as the team will return back to India via US after completing the second test in Jamaica, where he might be needed.
